| Beautiful and enjoyableThis book is visually beautiful, clearly written, and comprehensive. It provides a concise series of "snapshots" of religious/spiritual events from many different traditions and countries, over a long timeline. The effect is riveting, as if you are watching from above as events unfold and humanity's great variety of spiritual beliefs blossom. Without making any overt push to drive the point home, the book's concept and layout shows me how small I am as an individual, living in a particular period of historic time, and yet how the deepest, private spiritual encounters within me have been echoed in so many different ways, in different people, in different times.
Ms. Smith's knowledge of her subject matter is detailed, the choice of visual art inspired, and the general sense of flow and movement impeccable. This book would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in human spiritual development. Really enjoyable!
