| A Testament to a Flawed and Human HeroI understand that there was some controversy when this book won the Booker Prize because, though it is presented as a novel, it is non-fictional in approach and detail. There is very very few events mentioned here that weren't witnessed by someone (one of the hallmarks of historical fiction is that the author uses flights of fancy to imagine what happened behind closed doors). Similarly, there is very little that wasn't backed up by research and/or witness testimony.
Noting this doesn't detract from SCHINDLER'S LIST as a literary achievement. The writing is heartbreaking and taut, and the story is compelling. On a purely technical level, I was grateful that most of the chapters were very short, simply because these frequent breaks allowed me to rest briefly before delving into the relentless terror and pain that the Schindlerjuden were experiencing. I would love to know what has happened to each of his "his Jews" in the days since their liberation. The 1,200 people he saved have, as of 2006, grown to more than 7,000 living all over the world. The machinations that Keneally writes about; the bribes, the schmoozing and the glad-handing of officials in order to save these human beings is nothing short of super-human. Why did this "passive Nazi" risk his own life in order to save so many others? I don't know. I'm only grateful that he did.
Thomas Keneally reaffirms faith in the human spirit and the willingness to do good, even if the person doing it is no angel.

The SAT candidate will come across challenging vocabulary in the readings, in the answer choices, and in the sentence completion activities."In-A-Flash" provides extensive practice for over 360 frequently tested words with a variety of activities such as - sentence completions, matching, multiple choice definitions, and analogies. This book can be very helpful if the reader/student is conscientious.
Like many other books of this nature the word groups are bunched by theme. Some groups consist of verbs, oppostites, positives, negatives, or common roots.
Things I wish were included:
Pre and post tests
More intensive review and drill of roots and prefixes.
Sentence completion activities using the SAT format.
I don't particularly care for the inclusion of analogy practices in the book.
Don't get your hopes up about the three minute magic touted in the Amazon promo. The three minute drill is not for three days, but for three months.
I'd say this is a worthwhile book and an excellent supplement.

| Great review product for testThe explanations and examples in this book are very brief and general, but provide an excellent source for review. As this is intended to be used as a review rather than a first-time reading, I recommend using it for just that.
There are numerous small typographical and print errors throughout the book that present equations and diagrams incorrectly. These will be easily spotted by the careful reader, as many times the mistakes will conflict with concepts stated elsewhere. The errors are few and trivial enough, however, to make the book worth the buy.
It is a quick, short, effective read and definitely made a difference in my preparation for the Physics Subject Test.
